Gauchos, Vaqueros prepare for 2026 Legion season

Practice for the 2026 American Legion season in Parma begins on Tuesday, May 26, at 6:00 pm. It will be held at the baseball field at Parma High School.

The program will field teams at the "A" (Gauchos) and "B" (Vaqueros) level this summer. The AA Charros will not play this summer but are expected to return to the field as soon as next summer.

"A lot of people worked last summer to get the Charros on the field at the last minute and the team rewarded that faith by reaching the AA state tournament," said Pete Powers, the head of Parma's legion program. "We needed to step back this summer, to make sure we have a strong foundation to compete at a very high level of baseball."

Powers and Dan Kling will serve as the primary coaches for the Gauchos while Will Hoenike and Sam Hultman will be the primary coaches for the Vaqueros. Both teams' schedules and results will be available on the GameChanger app - click on the search bar at the top of the app screen and search "Gauchos A" and "Vaqueros B" in the 2026 summer season.
